The Issues

STANDING UP FOR TAXPAYERS

Chris Quinn understands that seniors are being forced out of their homes and hardworking middle-class families are squeezed because of rising property taxes. Chris thinks this is wrong, which is why he supports property tax reform, including capping property taxes for seniors on fixed incomes.

Despite attempts by liberal special interests, Chris stood up for taxpayers and small businesses by opposing massive tax and spend budgets that would have increased taxes by $1 Billion. Chris Quinn believes that taxpayers can no longer be ignored by politicians and he will continue to stand up to massive tax increases that have a negative impact on families, seniors, and small businesses.

AFFORDABLE & QUALITY HEALTHCARE

During the last decade, healthcare costs have soared. Chris Quinn has attacked skyrocketing prescription drug costs by making drug prices available to consumers so that they can get the best price for medications.

In addition to making healthcare more affordable, Chris Quinn believes that we must make healthcare more accessible, which is why he supports providing healthcare to those with pre-existing conditions and making sure that those who need it most have access to quality and affordable healthcare.

Chris Quinn understands the importance of affordable and accessible healthcare for our families. Chris has fought for funding for critical health services for thousands of Pennsylvanians, such as:

  • Federal qualified health centers that provide healthcare to over 700,000 Pennsylvanians
  • Mammograms
  • Cervical and Breast Cancer Screenings
  • Prenatal and Infant Care
  • Rape Crisis Care
  • CHIP – Children’s Health Insurance Program

KEEPING US SAFE

As a father of three daughters, Chris Quinn is leading the fight to keep our children and families safe.  Chris Quinn has voted for $120 million to be used for school safety grants which increase safety and security in our schools.  The program is designed to give schools the ability to use the funding for initiatives such as school police officers, mental health counselors, school safety plans and physical upgrades to school buildings and equipment.

Chris Quinn has supported common-sense gun laws such as banning bump stocks, universal background checks and by closing a loophole that allows criminals to possess guns.

Chris has co-sponsored legislation to protect domestic violence victims by forcing individuals convicted and sentenced of domestic violence to give up their firearms.

INVESTING IN OUR CHILDREN’S FUTURE

Chris Quinn made a promise to parents, children and taxpayers that he would fight to ensure that our schools are safe, properly funded and locally controlled.  As our State Representative, Chris Quinn delivered:

  • Over $800 million more in K-12 education
  • $120 million for Safe Schools
  • $85 million for Pre-K and Head Start
  • $90 million for Special Education

PRESERVING OUR ENVIRONMENT

Chris Quinn has a long history of fighting for clean water and a health environment. Since taking office, Chris Quinn has spearheaded many initiatives to protect our environment, drinking water and open space.

Representative Quinn along with Senator Tom Killion sponsored the ‘Growing Greener III’ program that helps protect our water, land, communities and other natural resources. The Growing Greener III program invests in conservation, recreation, preservation and community revitalization projects. Pennsylvania’s parks, farms, waterways and open space generate significant economic and health benefits locally.

Chris Quinn has been a tireless fighter for clean water. As a founding board member for Wells for Relief International, Chris has brought safe drinking water to at-risk populations around the world. As our State Representative Chris Quinn voted to require lead testing in water systems used by our schools.

FIGHTING FOR SAFE & SECURE PIPELINES

Chris Quinn is leading the fight to shut down the Mariner East 2 pipeline, so that new geological and environmental studies can be conducted to determine the real impacts to the community and environment.

Chris Quinn has continuously demanded accountability and transparency from Governor Wolf, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Sunoco in regard to the Mariner East 2 pipeline project.

Chris Quinn has been a vocal critic of the project and continuously has demanded action from the Governor and Sunoco to halt the project until the proper safeguards are in place to protect the environment and local residents.

Frustrated with the lack of action from Harrisburg and Sunoco, Chris sponsored legislation to give DEP the authority to protect private wells and prevent this situation from occurring again.

Chris also supports legislation that redirect the natural gas impact fee to local governments so that funding is available to provide public safety.

PROTECTING VICTIMS

Chris Quinn is a compassionate advocate for victims and their families.  As our State Representative, Chris supported Marsy’s Law for PA which would ensure that crime victims have the following rights:

  • To receive information about their rights
  • To receive notification of proceedings in their criminal cases
  • To assert additional statutory rights
  • To be present at court proceedings
  • To be heard at plea and sentencing proceedings
  • To be treated with fairness, respect and dignity
